Upon your first visit, Dr. Dhayni will take impressions, x-rays and photographs of your teeth to create a model upon which your veneer will be custom made.  Also, your teeth are prepared by trimming and reshaping the enamel so your veneers can fit over your teeth without added bulk.  Depending upon the amount of the tooth structure removed and the kinds of changes being made, a temporary veneer may be placed on your teeth until your next visit.

Upon your second visit, Dr. Dhayni will clean and polish your prepared teeth.  Then a bonding adhesive is applied to your teeth, along with your veneer.  A high-intensity light is used to harden the adhesive.  Now you will have the beautiful smile you have always wanted. 

Two disadvantages of veneers are that the procedure is not reversible and is somewhat painful depending on your threshold for pain.  Because we have to trim and reshape your teeth before your veneers are applied anesthetic or numbing shots may be required to relieve the pain.  If you are looking for a reversible, painless procedure, Lumineers may be right for you!  Also, veneers generally lasts between 5 and 10 years, were Lumineers are clinically proven to last up to 20 years.
